Tiger Airways to resume flights to Krabi, Thailand

phphcagzoSingapore’s budget carrier Tiger Airways will resume flights to the Thai resort of Krabi four times a week from end-October. The airline said sales, which began Tuesday, will be for travel from October 25 onwards. Fares start from S$20 one way, excluding airport taxes and charges. Tiger will be the only airline operating from Singapore to Krabi, which is the airline’s third destination in Thailand, after Bangkok and Phuket.

Nopparat Thara Beach

Locals refer to Nopparat Thara as “Klong Heng” (dry canal) because of its appearance at low tide. Then it is interesting to walk to the nearby islands without needing a boat.


NOPPARAT THARA BEACH

is just North up the coast from Ao Nang, 19 km from Krabi town. It is also the longest beach in the area, 3 km long. The National Park headquarters are situated at the northern end of the beach, close to a tributary of water flowing from the mountain in the North. The office’s facilities include tourist information, bungalow accommodation and a camp site.

Poda Islands

Poda Island

8 km West of Ao Nang, this small group of islands has a natural landmark in Chicken Island’s limestone rock, resembling a chicken’s head and neck. At the back of the island, you can find yourself in an underwater world of brilliantly coloured marine life.

Locals refer to this as Poda Nok Island (Koh Darm Kwan). At low tide it is possible to walk along a connecting beach or sandbank from Chicken Island to Mor Island.

Chinese diplomats, tourists assured Thailand is safe

BEIJING : Thailand has assured China of the safety of future Asean meetings and tourists visiting the Kingdom. The safety of its ministers, leaders and tourists is a prime concern for China after the riots over the Songkran holidays in April. Beijing has advised its citizens to avoid travel to Thailand and the spread of the type-A (H1N1) flu has further dampened the country’s tourism potential. Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya told his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi yesterday the meeting of Asean ministers and their dialogue partners, including China, next month and the leadership summit in October would go ahead as planned. Mr Kasit also promised there would be no political disruption to the meetings being held in Phuket.
