Thailand is monitoring the situation very closely in the wake of recent Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak in the Americas, Europe, and other parts of the world. Until now,there is no confirmed Influenza A (H1N1) case in the Kingdom, and Thailand should be considered to be safe from the virus.
However, in the light of the decision by the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise the current level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 4 to 5, Thailand is actively implementing policy and measures to prevent and control the spread of Influenza A (H1N1).
Thailand Projects About Two Million Visitors For Medical Services

About two million visitors are expected to take advantage of some of the world’s best medical treatment services and facilities in Thailand in 2009, according to estimates by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Department of Export Promotion (DEP).
Thailand boasts some of the world’s best health and wellness centres offering high standards of both preventive and curative treatment.There are 30 hospitals in Thailand which are now ready to service foreign patients nationwide. Some of the better-known ones among them are the Bangkok Medical Centre, Phyathai Hospital, Samitivej Hospital, Rama 9 Hospital, and Bumrungrad Hospital.
Thailand Waives Visa Fee As Part Of Drive To Revive Tourism

Continuing its efforts to expedite the revival of the Thai travel and tourism industry, the Royal Thai government has agreed to exempt the fee for tourist visa applications for a three month period, effective 5 March, 2009 to 4 June, 2009.
Thailand presently gives Visa on Arrival for citizens of 20 countries for a stay not exceeding 15 days. Citizens of another 42 countries are allowed a visa-free stay in Thailand not over 30 days. Those who wish to stay longer than those periods have to apply for visas at the Thai embassies or diplomatic missions abroad before their arrival in Thailand.
