SYNOPSIS : Rohit (Hritik Roshan) is working in as a salesperson in an automobile showroom owned by rich entrepreneur Mr. Malik. He is an aspiring singer who lives with his aged aunt and uncle and his younger brother Amit. One day he meets rich Sonia Saxena (Amisha Patel) when he goes to deliver a car to her home as her birthday present. They see each other later that night when Sonia and her friends are having a party on the beach. After Rohit sings for her, she invites him on a cruise to perform. There Sonia finds herself getting jealous over Rohit’s popularity with her female friends. Sonia goes to sulk and drink in a lifeboat and Rohit follows. After they pass out on the life boat it detaches from the ship. When they awake they find themselves floating adrift in the ocean.

After landing on a nearby island many distractions cause them to forget about the boat and it drifts away. When they realize they are stuck, at first they argue. When Sonia jumps into the ocean and pretends to drown, Rohit jumps in after to save her. However, it is Rohit who needs saving, since he can’t swim. When she asks why he jumped in after her, he confesses his love for her. After enjoying time together on the island, they are saved by Mr. Saxena (Anupam Kher). He is bitterly opposed to their relationship. He asks Rohit’s boss, Malik (Dalip Tahil) to fire him. However, later he softens up a bit and challenges Rohit to do something big so that he can win back his love. Determined to prove himself, Rohit and his friends attempt to procure a record deal for him. Rohit eventually becomes famous, and prepares to put on a huge concert. On the evening of the show, Rohit goes to pick-up his younger brother Amit from school to take him up to show. He witnesses two corrupt policemen shooting down their senior officer who has found out about their drug dealings. He also sees that the two policeman actually work for Malik, for whom he was working few days back. The policemen discover Rohit’s presence and shoot at him. Rohit is chased by the policemen and falls into a river when his bike slips on a bridge. Sonia arrives on the scene and frantically shouts that Rohit doesn’t know how to swim. A search party is sent down, but they don’t find Rohit’s body.

Sonia goes into depression so her father sends her to New Zealand to her cousin Neeta (Tanaaz Currim) to get over Rohit. When she reaches there she meets Raj Chopra (also Hrithik Roshan) in a club. He looks exactly like Rohit and is also a good singer. It turns out that Raj is a good friend of Sonia’s cousin, and they end up meeting often. Raj soon falls in love with her, but she doesn’t return his love because he reminds her too much of Rohit. When Raj doesn’t understand, Sonia shows him pictures, and he is amazed at the likeness. Sonia goes back to India and Raj follows. On landing, however, he is shot at by one of Rohit’s killers. Initially, Raj can’t understand why he was attacked, but he later becomes suspicious that whoever attacked him has mistaken him for Rohit. He and Sonia manage to save themselves and hide in Rohit’s old hideout. Here Sonia and Raj bond.

Soon after, Raj and Sonia figure out Rohit was murdered. They also find out that Rohit’s brother Amit is also a witness of Rohit’s murder. They go to meet Rohit’s family and an old friend, who scolds “Rohit” for acting as if he were dead, and many emotional moments follow as they are told the truth. When Amit meets Raj, he is convinced that Rohit has come back to him. Raj does not have the heart to tell him the truth, and adopts Amit as his own brother. Together, Sonia, Raj, and their friends make a plan to find Rohit’s killers. They reschedule the concert which Rohit was to perform the night he was murdered, with Raj replacing Rohit. The plan backfires and the murderers kidnap Sonia, but Raj rescues her. Then and there, he figures out who Rohit’s killers are and it turns out that the mastermind behind the drug conspiracy and Rohit’s murder is Sonia’s father, Mr. Saxena. Sonia is heartbroken by this betrayal, but finally admits her love for Raj. In the end, Mr. Saxena is held by police and Raj and Sonia get engaged.

James Bond Island – Originally named Ko Tapu, or “Nail Island”, the remarkable piece of rock reached
super-stardom when featured in the 1974 classic James Bond movie; ” The Man with the Golden Gun”

After the previous day’s excursion to the Phi Phi Islands, we booked for another sightseeing program on the very next day. Actually, we booked from the same tour agent (Let’s Go Krabi) on the evening after the islands tour. After much haggling (we Malaysians are good at this, I tell ya!), we agreed on a 800baht/RM80/USD25 per person – Kayaking Full Day Trip which includes a) Go to Phang Nga Bay by A/C minibus
b) Longtail boat to James Bond Island & Khao Ping Gan

Breakfast of Khanom Jeen in Krabi

The pickup van arrived at about 8.30am (Thailand time), picking us up from our inn. The day tour took about 10 hours in total, and we arrived back in Ao Nang at about 6.40pm.

Refreshing oneself at the waterfalls …. but instead, we got FOC Fish Spa treatment !

The McDonald’s facing our Ao Nang Grand Inn, and various amenities, shops, and food stalls

And so we were back in Ao Nang after a long 10 hours journey to the seas, caves, swamps and waterfalls. Usually, the package retails for 1,600 baht per person, but we managed to bargain our socks off; reducing the asking price printed on the brochures to half. If you’re in a much larger group, maybe you can get even better deals!

Dinner at Thai Thai Restaurant along Ao Nang Beach. A fusion of local and international cuisines,
we had pizzas, tom yum, green curry, and fried rice.

Initially we intended to walk over to Wangsai Seafood Restaurant for dinner, located about 20-30 minutes walk from our place. Or you can take the taxis (resembling more of a songthaew or mini truck) for 50-60 baht per person. But after the tiresome day, we decided to go against this idea. Instead we strolled leisurely towards the beach, about 5 minutes away and found ourselves attracted to the soft breezy lullabies; both from the crashing waves and the cabaret-like performance at Thai Thai Restaurant. Food was forgettable, yet we relished every moment of rejuvenation and blissful tranquility. To end the night, we went for body massage at one of the parlours facing the seas. Talk about loosening up knots in our nerves! From 200baht/RM20/USD6.30 per hour, you can opt for a myriad of massages, ranging from head+shoulder, full body, oil/milk/lotion massages, as well as foot massage.

And our final breakfast in Krabi; a random stall at a junction of two streets, in front of a convenience shop
named V-Shop. The stall has no name, hence good luck in locating this stall for the early birds of Ao Nang.
Noodles with chicken or beef (remember, pork is a rarity here) for 35-40 baht each.

And for the parting shot, take a look at these colourful, brightly-lit lanterns decorating the path parallel to Ao Nang beach.

And they lived happily ever after ……

COLLAPSED CAVES, BAYS, ANCIENT SITES & UNIQUE ISLANDS

Believe It or Not Tabu Island was created because of anger. There is a local story that said : once upon a time, there was a fisherman who normally caught a lot of fish everyday for selling at the market. One day, as usual, he went to net, but it was not his day. He threw his net many, many times but got nothing. With great patience he tried again and again, but still got nothing.
Consequently, he stared at the water looking for a waving pattern, he then threw his net again with a lot of hope. He kept his eyes fixed on the net when pulling it up, hoping some fish would be caught. Unfortunately he caught nothing but a nail. He became angry and threw the nail into the sea. Again with great concentration, he kept his eyes on the sea surface and tried his net once more. This time he threw his net as wide as he could with great hope of getting some fish. Then he pulled it up slowly as it was very heavy. He pulled it up with great care. At the end of the net he found the only thing caught was the same nail. He was so angry, he grasped his long knife and cut the nail with all his strength. The nail was cut in half. The nail was catapulted away and driven into the buttom of the sea standing up as you see it today. The area around Phangnga bay has a long history and is famed for its nature and beauty, especially Ko Tabu, Ko Panyi, Tham Lot and Khao Phing Kan. The rock art in this area has always been an important attraction. The popularity of the Phang Nga bay area led to the designation of the current area as a forest park in 1974, this was named Sri Phang Nga Forest Park. The Royal Forest Department then began to survey the area and realised it’s heritage should be further protected by increasing the areas status to a national park. Ao Phangnga was created by Royal decree and gazetted under proclaimation number 98 section 64 of 29th April 1981. The park created covers an area of 400 sq.km, protects the largest area of this original primary mangrove forest remaining in Thailand. The park stretches from Muang Phangnga District to the coast at Takua Tung District. Over 80 % of the park is covered by the Andaman sea, with over 42 large and small islands, including such as Phra At Tao Island, Maprow Island, Boi Noi Island, Boi Yai Island, Rayaring Island, Phanak Island, Hong Island, Panyi Island, Phing Kan Island etc. The topography of the park is strongly influenced by several faults, particulary the north-east trending of the Klong Marui fault.

This offsets the eastern terrain from the central mountain ranges by a right lateral movement. This fault movement resulted in the formation of a large graben parallel to the fault. This graben is marked by the present bay. The high ground is produced by massive limestone blocks displaying classic karst scenery. These blocks extend southward into Phangnga bay where they form islands with vertical cliffs, mainly orientated in a north-south direction. Phangnga bay slopes seaward and is filled with tidal sediments. The bay itself is composed of large and small tidal channels which originally connected with the fluvial system of the mainland. The main tidal channels for instance Klong Ko Panyi, Khlong Phangnga, Klong Bang Toi and Klong Bo Saen all run in a north-south direction. They consist of several tidal creeks or tidal channel distributaries. Most of the tidal channels are meandering with well developed point bars. Mangrove forests grow around the whole area of the Phangnga bay, they differ in species depending on elavation and relative tidal range. The landward boundary of Phangnga bay is marked by a gentle erosion slope, limestone cliffs and transition forest between mangrove and upland forest which extends beyond the bay margin.

Been here and what blogger discovered & experienced :-

” After touring the bay, our next stop was the Muslim Gypsy village: a collection of houses on stilts that used to be a traditional town but has since become a tourist trap. It was sad to see that the entire village is now a floating market filled with stall after stall selling the same tee shirts, magnets, post cards and souvenirs…many with James Bond Island plastered across them. Still, although I did not like what I saw, I couldn’t resist the chance to get some keepsakes for myself. Back on the boat again, we sped around more crags before I saw it creeping up in the distance. Finally, James Bond Island was before me. We did a loop around it before coming to dock on the back side of the beach. I was the second one off and, after paying the national park entrance fee I was off running around the place like a kid at Christmas. “
